"Stroke is the third biggest cause of death, and the major cause of serious disability in the UK" according to The Stroke Association. Huw Watkin's wife suffered a brainstem stroke in May 2003. For the next six months, he found himself on an emotional roller-coaster as he looked after her, and learnt to look after himself at the same time. He had to deal with the medical professionals, liaise with family and friends, and grasp a whole raft of new skills and concepts. This is his story, together with his advice in hindsight to help other carers of stroke patients - a group for whom very little is written.
